Lucky & Wild (1993)
Developer: Namco - World Record Hi-Score: 633,550
Released in the arcades in 1993 by Namco, this is a fun and amusing driving and shooting game for 1 or 2 players. A 3rd can even squeeze on the bench seat as there is a steering wheel and 2 guns to choose from. A slightly on-rails type driving game, this is not going to test your driving skills like a game of Sega Rally, but the concept is super fun, drive erratically while shooting the baddies, what is not to love?!
With Lucky being the man in a business suit and Wild being a classic surfer type character you will love the animation and spoken sample sound in this as it reeks of classic 90s fun! You will laugh at the facial expressions shown in the rear-view mirror and cringe at some sections of the game, but it will all add up to a great experience of what is actually a pretty rare arcade machine to find.
This game is actually one that was in Tom’s local arcade back in the day, though it was always set to such brutal difficulty so a 50p never lasted very long at all! So, squeeze onto the bench seat with a mate or 2 and drop some quarters in it at Four Quarters in Hackney Wick, we’re sure you will have a blast!
